Marriott School Names William G. Dyer Distinguished Alumnus

PROVO - The master of organizational behavior (MOB) program at Brigham Young University's Marriott School will present its third annual William G. Dyer Distinguished Alumni Award to Paul W. Gustavson at a banquet April 1.

In conjunction with the award, Gustavson will deliver a presentation, "Leveraging Knowledge Capital as a Source of Competitive Advantage (You Get What You Design For)" on Friday (April 2) at 9:30 a.m. in 3380 Wilkinson Student Center. The public is invited to attend.

Gustavson is president of Organizational Planning and Design Inc., a leading organization design consulting firm specializing in strategic alignment, knowledge management, change management and the design of high-performance work systems. He is credited with integrating and refining an organizational design architectural model and methodology used by many Fortune 500 companies.

Gibb Dyer, director of the Marriott School's MOB program, will present the award. Dyer characterized Gustavson as a man who has successfully maintained his integrity in the business world and selflessly donated his time and talents to worthy causes.

"In addition to being a noted author, lecturer and consultant, he has made a tremendous contribution to our program," said Dyer. "His work as president of the MOB advisory board over the last several years has been an invaluable asset."

The Dyer Distinguished Alumni Award is given to an alumnus of at least ten years who makes a significant contribution in the field of organizational behavior.

Gustavson graduated from the Marriott School's MOB program in 1975 and has worked for Amoco, and high technology startup firms including Zilog, Inc. and Cygnet Technologies, Inc. His work has been featured in several periodicals, including Business Week, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Fortune.

Marriott Program To Honor Alumnus Thursday Night

The Marriott School's Master of Organizatiotial Behavior program will present its third annual William G Dycr Distinguishcd Alumni Award to Paul W. Gustavson at a banquet Thursday night.

Friday morning Gustavson will deliver a presentation titled "Leveraging Knowledge Capital as a Source of Competitive Advantage (You Get What you Design For)." Students are invited to attend his lecture.
